A Gourmet Gazette Cooling Cocktail Find

A Spritz cocktail made with the Double Jus aperitif from the house of 30&40. A Normandy Spritz. Handout via The Gourmet Gazette

Calvados, the great gastronomic region of Normandy has just brought us something new and refreshing. The house of 30&40 created by three friends in 2015 rigorously selects the finest Calvados liquors from the region. But they have also brought us something different, something unique from the good earth of Normandy, the Double Jus, a low alcohol content (23%) apple-based craft aperitif perfect for a pre-dinner Spritz or enjoyed in hot cider.

The ingredients are selected from the regional products like Calvados and the must or pressed residu of apples, a must that is rich in anti-oxidant phenols. The Double Jus is assembled immediately after the apples are pressed and then aged in oak casks giving this craft aperitif a spicy and complex aroma and a natural reddish gold color. Only Controlled Designation of Origin (AOC) apples are used in the aperitif.
So fill up a large wine glass with ice, add the Double Jus and top it off with good tonic water and garnish with a lemon zest and a sprig of rosemary.
