It’s Cocktail Time with a Fiorente Spritz

This is another twist on the traditional Spritz. A floral twist known as the Hugo Spritz. Its all about combining one of our favorite Proseccos, Prosecco Riccadonna with Fiorente elderflower liquor and topping it off with sparkling mineral water and a lemon zest. Use the proportions you like best — you can even do away with the sparkling water all together — just make sure the Prosecco and water (if using) are icy cold. The aromatic and natural Fiorente liquor is today distilled in Ghemme in the Piedmont region of Italy by the family-owned house of Gruppo Fratelli Francoli and that since 2014. The recipe which is a blend of the elderberry flower, the freshness of the mint and liveliness of citrus fruits originally hails from the southern Tyrol.

The wild elderberry flowers are harvested in the north of Italy  in a sustainable fashion, leaving a portion of the flowers on the bushes to ripen into fruit to preserve the region’s biodiversity. These are distilled with mint, Mentha Piperita di Pancalieri (a local variety of peppermint), a distillate of lemon peel, along with lemon and lime juice, a blend that the house has kept in its secret recipe book for over 150 years. Fiorente means blooming in Italian and the name pays tribute to Flora, the Roman goddess of flowers and spring. Gruppo Fratelli Francoli is distributed by the Campari Group. It is available in major supermarkets in France, distributed by Campari France and in Costcos. ©Trish Valicenti for The Gourmet Gazette. https://www.fiorenteliqueur.com/
