Paris, France — The countdown to the Summer Olympics Games in Paris is underway and one of the best places to become an Olympian yourself is on the inner courtyard patio of the Castille hotel. Here five Olympic cocktails are on the menu to be enjoyed at the bar or on the Florentine patio, the Assagio, with its frescoes, greenery and monumental fountain, offering a vacation within a vacation and one of the most refreshing and delightful terraces in Paris. The luxury boutique hotel, just footsteps from the Place Vendôme and next door to the Chanel boutique, has also launched its weekly Frizzante Apertivo Allegro on Wednesday evenings from 6pm until 8:30pm featuring a special of two cocktails and a generous platter of carefully sourced Italian delicacies including parmigiano reggiano vacche rosse that has been aged for 24 months, creamy burrata, Prosciutto and focaccia for US$62 (58 euros).

The five cocktails each represent one of the five rings on the Olympic flag which in turn represent the five parts of the world in which the modern Olympic movement was present. The flag was conceived in 1913 by the founder of the modern Olympic movement, Baron Pierre de Coubertin. And the fun colorful cocktails are on every day at the Castille with a host of carefully sourced premium ingredients. The Americas revolves around tequila and peppery peppers and lemon juice while the Asia features mezcal and Jamaican pimento liquor. Meanwhile head into Africa for a savoury affair that includes ginger syrup, orange juice and Chivas 18. Europe comes in with gin and a lime liquor and for Oceania a classic Negroni is on hand with a blue gelée of orange and vanilla.

But the Castille is a great place to go for breakfast, lunch or dinner or cocktails everyday. Do not miss the house’s signature dish a vitello tonnato like you have had nowhere else. The Castille hotel is a charming antique- filled boutique hotel owned and managed by Starhotels, a private Italian hotel group specialised in luxury hotels. And another reason to head over to the Castille: Cambon and Capucine, the hotel’s Chartreuse cats, a charming brother and sister act. ©Trish Valicenti for The Gourmet Gazette.
