The Swiss watchmaking house of Zenith is placing women’s watches in the forefront and with its elegant new Defy Midnight collection has drawn its inspiration from the infinite cosmos. The jewel-like watch is versatile, sporty and chic and outfitted with what is clearly a celestial dial. Ensconced in a 36 mm stainless steel case, the timepiece is embellished with brilliant-cut diamonds and is available in deep blue and gray. It portrays the night sky above an endless horizon.

The brand’s faceted star emblem is the star that burns the highest and the brightest on the dial while stars of different sizes, some of which glow in the dark, emerge throughout the dial. A third dial is made of white mother of pearl evoking moonlight on a cloudy night upon which white diamonds are applied on every hour marker with the exception of 3 o’clock where the date window has been placed.

« We are placing women’s watches at the forefront of the brand’s creative endeavors. But we weren’t content with making yet another ladies’ watch. With our newest models, it is the first time that Zenith has conceived women’s watches from the ground up, » explained Zenith CEO Julien Tornare.

We particularly liked the watch’s interchangeable strap system for the Defy Midnight features an assortment of bracelets and straps that can be changed around by the wearer. In addition to the stainless steel bracelet there is a selection of colored satin and leather straps.

The Defy saga all began back in 2017 with the 100th of a second chronograph named the Defy El Primero 21. Following on the heels of that landmark moment Zenith unveiled the Defy Lab, an archetype regulated by a revolutionary oscillator and brought out in a limited edition of 10 pieces.
