The Opera Gallery is presenting this year’s edition of the Monaco Masters Show, a much awaited event on the principality’s summer season. The exhibition, entitled « American 80s from Warhol to Basquiat «  falters works by the outstanding visual artists of the time including Andy Warhol, Jean-Michel Basquiat, Keith Haring, Kenny Scharf, John Chamberlain, Robert Indiana, Alex Katz, George Condo and Frank Stella the exhibition explores a more than memorable moment and movement in the 1980s in New York City—when artistic production became an integral part of the cultural, social, and economic scenes that shaped an entire era.  “Beyond their historical significance, the artworks featured in this year’s Monaco Masters Show, dedicated to the American 1980s, reflect the enduring vitality of artists whose influence extends far beyond the decade in which they emerged,” said Federica Beretta, Global Director of Opera Gallery. “Bringing together some of the most influential artistic voices of 1980s New York, the exhibition celebrates a generation whose work continues to shape our understanding of image-making, celebrity, identity, and cultural expression— challenging and redefining visual language both then and today.” 

The exhibition also includes masterworks by artists who shaped global art from the post-war period to the early twenty-first century, including Fernando Botero, Alexander Calder, Marc Chagall, Jean Dubuffet, Yayoi Kusama, Roy Lichtenstein, Jaume Plensa, Pablo Picasso, Pierre Soulages, Niki de Saint Phalle, Manolo Valdés, and Tom Wesselmann.
