The Orfèvres du Vin (which literally means the goldsmiths of wine) have just brought out an exciting and mellow yellow colored white Burgundy from the cooperative’s a specially selected parcel of vine plants in Burgundy that are in the Mâcon-Villages appellation or region of origin. The 2024 harvest was sun-filled producing grapes bursting with a very rich and pure juice which was then aged for 11 months in oak casks then an additional two months in stainless steel vats. Bottled at the end of October, 2025, the oenologist of the house Lucie Tanchon orchestrated the vinification process with Jérôme Chevalier, Maryline Vandaele and François-Régis Barbier. The bouquet is flowery and fruity, a classical Chardonnay and can pair well with snails or fresh goat cheese and is perfect in the region’s traditional kir. The wine is produced by the collective Orfèvres du Vin, originally called Charnay-lès-Mâcon, created in 1929 and which brings together some 70 members who strive to create the finest in white wines in the hilly Mâconnais, a delightful region nestled between Burgundy to the north and the Beaujolais to its south. Named for the town of Mâcon, it is known for producing good value, excellent white wines made mainly from the chardonnay grape and pinot blanc varieties. The house’s Chardonnays are regular medal winners at the Chardonnays of the World competition and at wine fairs in Paris and Mâcon. Special to The Gourmet Gazette. https://www.orfevresduvin.com/
