Paris, France — When two French institutions come together with the World Rugby Cup, which kicked off in France on September 8th, the result is rather unsurprisingly gastronomic. The great French house of luxury gastronomy Lenôtre and the French quality casual clothing house, created by professional rugby players, Eden Park, have teamed up to create a splendid rugby-themed chocolate and raspberry dessert, dubbed the Légende. Guy Krenzer, director of creation and head pastry chef Etienne Leroy at Lenôtre in collaboration with Franck Mesnel, the co-founder of the Eden Park brand and selected to play for the French national rugby team 56 times, dreamed up a cake in the shape of Eden Park’s iconic rugby shirt.

Around the neck of the collar is the iconic emblem of Eden Park, the pink bowtie and on the left hand side of the shirt, the colors of the flag of France and the symbol of the nation and its sports, the rooster. The pastry-like dessert is a layered affair of raspberry flavored sponge and raspberry cream and a dark, white, milk and raspberry chocolate ganache. If you’re in France you can order it at Lenôtre to enjoy during the Rugby World Cup which is on until October 28th.

Eden Park was founded 35 years ago by world class rugby men Franck Mesnel and Eric Blanc who have transposed a certain French flair from the rugby field to this unique brand of upmarket casual clothing and accessories. The co-founders played for the French team in the final of the very first Rugby World Cup against the All Blacks of New Zealand in the Eden Park stadium in Auckland, New Zealand. Luxury caterer Lenôtre has been creating its gourmet meals, dishes and desserts since 1957. The house was created by the celebrated pastry chef Gaston Lenôtre. ©Trish Valicenti for The Gourmet Gazette. https://www.lenotre.com/en/ https://www.eden-park.com/en
