Paris, France — The Delta Coffee House Experience has stepped out of its home base in Portugal in style. The elegant Avenue de l’Opéra in Paris which leads up to the 19th century Garnier Opera House is now home to the iconic Portuguese coffee tradition offered up by Delta which roasts its own blends of coffee in-house and right on the premises. The rich coffee blends, like the house’s pure Arabica, bringing together beans of Peru and Colombia, are the perfect perk up after or during a day of luxury shopping and seeing the sights in this neighborhood of Paris marked by the inimitable architectural style of Georges-Eugène Haussmann, the French official who in the 19th century supervised a grandiose urban renewal of the French capital.

The Delta house coffees are perfectly blended and upon the first sip it becomes apparent that there is not a single note of bitterness to them. This is a traditional coffee house serving up their distinctive coffees with the famed Portuguese sweet, the pastel de nata. And not just any pastel de nata, but the ones made by the house of Manteigaria, already an iconic address on the Porto, Madrid, Macao and Lisbon gourmet landscapes and which is producing the pastries directly within the Delta Coffee house on the avenue de l’Opéra with which it is sharing digs. Pastel de nata are those plush and lush custard tarts with their flaky pastry shells. They are said to have first been made by monks at Lisbon’s Jerónimos Monastery sometime before 1834. But they have found their way into the heart of Paris, alongside the coffees of Delta House.

The Delta Coffee House Experience is some 60 years young and is known in Portugal for its coffees emanating from a single origin like the Azore Islands, São Tomé and Principe or Angola, all former Portuguese colonies. The Parisian house also offers up breakfast, brunch and light meals and you can take some of your favourite beans home with you. While Paris marks Delta House’s first foray outside of Portugal as a place to drink its coffee, the Delta Cafés brand is present in 40 countries. The house is specialised in coffee roasting.
