Paris, France – As Paris gets ready to hold the 2024 Olympic Games and the Paralympic Games, The Gourmet Gazette’s Paris bureau brings you events surrounding the games because it seems like everybody is getting into the act. And what better way to start than with pastries and macaroons from the house of Ladurée. The official pastries and macaroons and a candle are produced under license and the sweets were created by the house’s Executive Pastry Chef Julien Alvarez who creatively added in some eclectic spices designed to proffer an energy boost.

First up is the Olympic mango cardamom tart made of almond cream, almond duja, mango compote, green cardamom and chopped almonds decorated with the Paris 2024 Olympic logo. The Paralympic lemon ginger tart is also made with almond cream and almond dura as well as candied lemon and candied lime flavored with ginger and lime bites. It is decorated as well with the Paris 2024 Olympic logo.

Ladurée, famous for its macaroons, has imagined two limited edition boxed sets of macaroons. The first box features the house’s iconic green motif paired with the Olympic gold motif housing 28 macaroons while the pink and blue box of 12 macaroons features the Paris mascots for the games, the amusing Phryges, shaped like and named for the Phrygian cap popularized by French revolutionaries in the 18th century. Chocolate coated butter cookies appear in a delightful gift box decorated with the same mascots doing skateboard practice. A blue and white decorative candle scented with marshmallow, orange flower, rose and violet is also on Ladurée’s Olympic agenda. ©Trish Valicenti for The Gourmet Gazette. https://www.laduree.fr/
