A Gourmet Gazette Fine Fare Find: The International Village of Gastronomy

Paris, France — It was a feast for the five senses. Saudi Arabian teas and pastries and a rousing drum performance, chocolate flavored champagne from the Ivory Coast, the wines of Portugal and the tastes of Bulgaria, Afghanistan, Morocco, Georgia, El Salvador and beyond. For the sixth time, more than 550 countries and all of the French regions gathered together last September 7th to the 10th for the International Village of Gastronomy, a festive food fair of fare at its finest. The show is a gateway to the gastronomy of the entire world and this year it stretched out beneath the Eiffel Tower on the Quai Jacques Chirac on the Left Bank of the Seine. Some 200 culinary demonstrations, shows, dances and concerts were all on the folklore-filled agenda as well as an exhibition of emblematic culinary books from 180 countries. All demonstrating that cuisine at least has made the great escape from globalization. And new this year was France’s Food Forum which organized conferences and round tables bringing together experts in agriculture, sustainable cuisine, education and the transmission of nutrition and culinary traditions. The Forum federated five continents from over 170 countries, the regions of France and all of the professions linked to gastronomy. The International Village of Gastronomy and the Forum is slated to take place once again in September of 2024. Special to The Gourmet Gazette.  https://village-international-de-la-gastronomie.com/
