Paris, France — Imagine an urban landscape filled with trees and shrubs and plants and birds. Imagine the Arc de Triomphe in Paris surrounded by a flamingo filled lake and lush vegetation and with a lion perched on its top. A Triumphant Arch where a peacock spreads its feathers.  A giraffe grazes in front of the Pyramid of the Louvre. This is a world that has been imagined by Chris Morin-Eitner. The contemporary artist/photographer’s works are being showcased in a solo show entitled  Once Upon a Time Tomorrow (Il était une fois demain) being held at the Galerie W in Paris.

Chris Morin-Eitner dreams of a world in the future in which nature emerges into the city. Something which did happen to a certain extent during the Covid-19 pandemic’s periods of confinement.  Inspired by the ancient city of Angkor where greenery and vines creep in and out of the ancient temples, transforming the site into a poetic ode to nature, he creates dreamy greenery-filled worlds. « Angkor, invaded today by  vines and filled with poetry and tomorrow what will Dubai, Shanghai, Rome and Paris become?, »  asks the artist.

His works, originally photographs of cities, are layers upon layers of colors, shadows and light and diverse textures. The result is a world in which we would all like to live. A colorful natural world peopled with magnificent creatures. A world of optimism.  

« My work is built around an optimistic vision, full of hope, full of life, a Garden of Eden regained, teeming with colors, shapes, to create a poetic world and to erase right angles, flat, disengaged  surfaces, letting nature imagine new shapes, » explains Chris Morin-Eitner.
