A Conversational Gem

Paris, France — L’Ecole, the School of Jewelry Arts in Paris just footsteps from one of the most bejeweled places in the world, the Place Vendôme, is offering free on-line conversations about jewelry with notable experts. And you can choose between a conversation in French or English. Talismans, Gems and Marvels offers a look into how amulets, talismans and lucky charms have obsessed people since the dawn of time even before cultures developed there own favorite motifs and jewelry. You can discover the powers attributed to stones, beliefs in protective or totem animals and hear stories about certain jewels of legend. The conversation is being held in English on November 12th at noon Paris time and on November 13th at 7pm, Paris time. The Conversation in French is slated for November 12th at 6pm Paris time.

Another on-line conversation offers a glimpse into the architecture of New York and jewelry design. This conversation is being broadcast live from the Musée des Arts Décoratifs (The Decorative Arts Museum) which is a partner of the school’s. The conversation delves into how the city of New York at the end of World War I served as an inspiration for jewelry creators. Entering into the heart of Art Deco, you can discover how skyscrapers, urban scapes and the modern profoundly changed the look of jewelry. The English conversation is being held on November 18th at noon Paris time and on November 19th at 7pm Paris time. The French conversation is on November 18th at 6pm Paris time.

The wealth of the floral universe has also for centuries been a source of inspiration for all jewelers. An astounding ensemble of jewels from the 17th century to the present will be explored, presented in a book co-published by L’Ecole and the Musée des Arts Décoratifs. The English conversation is being held on November 24th at noon and 4pm Paris time and on November 25th at 10am and 4pm Paris time. The French conversation is on November 26th at 6pm Paris time.
