The lion, a symbol of strength, courage and power, it also represents the sign of the Zodiac, Leo a fire sign of people born roughly between July 23rd and August 23rd. Last July the house of Gucci launched its Lion Head Collection of fine high jewelry, a theme dear to the house’s creative director Alessandro Michele who has been conceiving the house’s collections for the past five years now. The head of the lion is at the heart of each piece in which the lion clenches a precious stone in its teeth. Surrounded by diamonds the lion’s eyes are also set with piercing diamonds. The earrings, bracelets, necklaces and rings are fashioned in both 18ct white and yellow gold.

But the Lion Head Collection along with other animal themes favored by the house also embodies Gucci’s actions to help to protect nature. In February the house joined the Lion’s Share Fund, a unique project to collect funds to fight the crisis that is hitting nature, biodiversity and climate everywhere in the world. The project is run by the United Nations Development Fund which works with companies and partners and it aims to collect 100 million dollars a year over the next five years to fund the protection of endangered species and their natural habitats.
