A Bauhaus Birthday

The Junghans Form A Jahre Bauhaus timepiece

To celebrate the 100th anniversary of the inception of the Bauhaus, the German art school that was operational from 1919 to 1933, the German watch maker Junghans has brought out its Junghans Form A Jahre Bauhaus. The timepiece pays tribute to the chromatic circle of Johannes Itten, the Swiss expressionist painter, designer and teacher associated with the Bauhaus with the lacquered hour markers of the watch using the 12 chromatic colors of Johannes Itten , a new theory concerning color types. The theory consists in using the three primary colors of blue, yellow and red by mixing them together to make the three secondary colors of orange, green and purple and then mixing the primary and secondary colors together to obtain the six tertiary colors and these all make for a colorful watch dial. The automatic timepiece which has been brought out in a limited edition of just 1,000 pieces has a power reserve of 38 hours and is outfitted with a handsome stainless steel Milanese mesh bracelet. ©The Gourmet Gazette
