In what appears to be a first, the fine jewellery house of ODACE and the Longueteau distillery have come together to create a unique and historic object: an exceptional bottle of exceptional rum to the tune of US$ 153,000 (130,000€). The spectacular bottle celebrates the 130th anniversary of the distillery and illustrates the excellence of French craftsmanship. This unique piece was over a year in the making and draws its inspiration from cane sugar, the key ingredient in sugarcane juice rum. It is believed to be the most expensive bottle of sugarcane juice rum ever produced. Fashioned in glass paste, it is a hand-crafted example of a high jewellery object made by the house of ODACE. It is decorated with 113 grams of gold and set with 34 laboratory-made diamonds, a specialty of the house. The sugar cane brandies that have been blended into the rum reflect a blend of a long standing family tradition and talent at the Longueteau distillery in Guadeloupe. Special to The Gourmet Gazette
