Artcurial, the French auction house, enjoyed a highly successful week of auctions during its now legendary Monaco Auction Week in Monte-Carlo. Luxury was on the agenda with high jewelry, watches and designer and luxury bags all being auctioned off. Collectors once again flocked to the Principality as did numerous visitors for the pieces on auction were also presented in an exhibition prior to the week of sales which were held from July 17th until the 21st. Total proceeds amounted to 20 million euros which is just about the same amount in US dollars now. Held over the three-day period of July 18th, 19th and 20th, splendid and sparkling jewelry was particularly successful with sales totaling over seven million dollars for a resounding amount of US$ 7,325191, proving once again that diamonds are forever. An emerald-cut diamond weighing in at 17.5 carats was sold for US$1,294 561. But as it turned out emeralds, rubies and sapphires are forever as well. The slide show below presents the pieces that brought in some of the highest prices. The Gourmet Gazette https://www.artcurial.com/fr
