
Paris, France — An intriguing, iconic and unique exhibition is unfolding in the French capital devoted to the world of boxing through contemporary African art. The exhibition which features photographs and works of art in myriad mediums has received the full support of the French Boxing Federation many of whose members and boxers were on hand for the opening gala soirée. The show which is being shown inside the gallery space of the house of Keneo Sport Experience has been organized in conjunction with the Galerie Art-Z which has been specialized in contemporary African art for the past two decades.

A highlight of the exhibition are works devoted to the celebrated Rumble in the Jungle, the heavyweight championship boxing match in which George Foreman vs. Muhammed Ali that was held in Kinshasa, Zaire on October 30th, 1974 and has been called the greatest sporting event of the 20th century. Of the works devoted to the fight one of the most emblematic is an acrylic on canvas painting by Baye-Dam Cissé of George Foreman stepping onto the scale. Never before scene photographs of the rounds are on hand as well as powerful black and white photographs of African boxers. All of the works may be purchased.
