One of the highlights of the third LVMH watch week held from January 24th to the 28th were the stunning and precise timepieces from the house of Zenith that made their way into the Defy Midnight Line. The sky was a recurring theme in some of the new pieces ranging from the aurora borealis and the skies of sunset and midnight. Two new models tailored for women were a sparkling and colorful addition to the house’s Defy collection for ladies launched in 2020. The lore of Zenith is all there namely in the starry night sky and some of its more captivating phenomena embodied in the Defy Midnight Sunset and the Defy Midnight Borealis.

The watches are housed in feminine 36mm cases that are enhanced with brilliant cut white diamonds on the bezel and guilloché engraved dials with a radiant wave pattern, like rays of light emanating from the single applied star near the top of the dial. In the Defy Midnight Sunset the dial transitions from warm red into a deep yellow tone that brings to mind that brief but breathtaking sky as the sun casts its last rays before disappearing into the night. Meanwhile the Defy Midnight Borealis evokes the aurora borealis, the northern lights that can be seen in and around the Arctic Circle. The midnight blue dial shifts to bright emerald green. In both models white diamonds are applied on every hour marker except 3 o’clock where the date window is placed.

The Defy Midnight watches are outfitted with the automatic Elite 670 manufacture movement and have a quick strap-change mechanism and three straps are included in the special box along with the watch. The straps — leather, textile and rubber — can be easily switched without any tools. In partnership with Nona Source, a new company incubated by LVMH, Zenith is introducing a new line of sustainably made straps with a high-fashion edge.
