The 89th edition of the biggest race in automotive endurance racing took place over August 21st and August 22nd, the 24 Hours of Le Mans. First held in 1923, the Le Mans 24 Hours quickly established itself as one of the world’s most prestigious motor races. The exciting sport brings together a host of teams from around the world participating on the same race track in multiple categories. But it isn’t only the drivers, technicians, engineers and the car makers who had been gearing up for the event, watch makers had been too, for timing is everything.

For a one hundred percent Le Mans experience, the Le Mans-headquartered Franco-Swiss watchmaking house of Barillet Factory accompanied the race car drivers Arnold and Maxime Robin, who hail from Le Mans, of the SO24 team – Dirob by Graff #39 who participated in the 24 Hours of Le Mans sporting the house’s Superpunk© watch. Designed in France in Le Mans, the watches are made in Switzerland and the house’s motto is Round Is Not An Option. Evident in the spectacular shape of Barillet watches. The Barillet Superpunk Automatic special edition Supercar Experience that the Robin brothers were sporting in stainless steel are outfitted with a 42mm case and a black leather bracelet with double yellow top stitching.

Meanwhile the British watch brand Forzo and the American constructor Scuderia Cameron Glickenhaus took on the Le Mans 24 Hours car race as well with the autmobile makers placing fourth and fifth overall. The new Forzo Road to Race watch was designed with Jim Glickenhaus and is a tribute to the golden era of motorsport as the team attempted to become the first all-American car to triumph at Le Mans in half a century. Scuderia Cameron Glickenhaus is based in Sleepy Hollow, New York, the setting for Washington Irving’s celebrated and iconic story, The Legend of Sleepy Hollow, perhaps another Sleepy Hollow legend is on the way. Forzo watches are a new brand and distributed exclusively on-line. Although the limited edition has now sold out other watches in the Forzo Glickenhaus range can be pre-ordered online.

Just over a year ago the Richard Mille Racing Team was formed and has quickly established itself in endurance racing circles. The all female Richard Mille team made up of Tatiana Calderón, Sophia Flörsch and Beitske Visser, are took part in the premium race of the endurance racing calendar, Le Mans 24 Hours, in the LMP2 category. But luxury watch maker Richard Mille has been part of the Le Mans landscape for nearly two decades now since its historic partnership with the legendary race, the Le Mans Classic, which was held for the first time in 2002. The house has brought out its 8th model RM029 Automatic Le Mans Classic specifically dedicated to this other great Le Mans race in a limited edition of 150 skeleton timepieces in timeless green and white. The Le Mans Classic race has been postponed until 2022.
