Paris, France — There were the mythical venues like the Bilboquet, the Montana venues in the Saint-Germain-des-Prés neighborhood of Paris, a neighborhood where the greatest jazz men of the 20th century could be found performing and where the contemporary jazz scene continues to play on. Miles Davis, Lionel Hampton, Duke Ellington, Sydney Bechet, Thelonious Monk were all there. Each year the Jazz Festival of Saint-Germain-des-Prés is held in various venues in the neighborhood and this year the festival, the 20th, is being held entirely on-line with a fine twist being that spectators and artists can meet up with one another during chats and video conferences.
Jazz is part of the soul of this culturally rich Parisian neighborhood and this year’s festival will bring to the screens of jazz lovers the world over both the festival and its artists. Among this year’s highlights are a tribute to the great, unforgettable jazz pianist Michel Petrucciani in a unique sextet formation from Laurent Coulondre. The livestream package is available for streaming in replay for 72 hours and a chat room is on the agenda during the duration offering a live feed with the other spectators and the artists. The festival takes place on May 25th and 28th and on June 1st and 4th and on replay.
