Color the World

Paris, France —It is a colorful around the world tour that is on display at the Parisian gallery 193 Gallery which is showcasing artists from Morocco, the Côte d’Ivoire, Chile and Brazil. Entitled Colors of Abstraction 2 it is a journey into abstract art and the visual impact of color and brings together a host of mediums ranging from painting to sculpture and design. The show bursts with colors from vivid red, violet, to yellow and beyond. While most cultural institutions in France are closed, galleries have remained open. But if you can’t come to Paris right now, The Gourmet Gazette brings this colorful show to you.

Designer, sculptor, woodworker, Jean Servais Somian was born in the Côte d’Ivoire in 1971. He excels at working wood, all kinds of wood from the wood of the coconut tree to ebony and amazaque, a hardwood used in making musical instruments. From his hand emerge sofas, bookshelves, mirrors and design objects all incrusted with color.

Ghizlaine Agzenaï who hails from Morocco is known for her totem pieces and monumental works. Born in Tanger, she lives and works in Casablanca. During the first period of confinement in 2020, she created the work Emerge, a projection onto the wall of one of the highest buildings in Casablanca. She is considered to be in the line of the School of Casablanca, a school that developed innovative education and exhibition projects in Morocco in the 1960s.

Meanwhile Valentina Canseco is a color worker. Brazilian and Chilean, she works in Paris and looks into the relationship that links the human being to the urban scape. She works in myriad mediums ranging from drawing to engraving, photography and video.

This bevy of international artists has been brought together by gallery owner Cesar Levy in his gallery, the 193 Gallery, specialized in contemporary art, in the Marais neighborhood of Paris. The show is running through March 31st. The gallery aims to do a world tour through the world of art and 193 is the number of countries in the world.
