This is a portrait of Marie-Amélie de Bourbon who was the queen to Louis-Philippe, the king of the French from 1830 until 1848 and under the constitutional monarchy of France is also the last queen of the French. Born Maria Amalia of Naples and Sicily, she was born to a king, King Ferdinand IV of Naples, would marry a king, Louis-Philippe and was niece to a queen of the ill-fated yet iconic Marie-Antoinette. But she is in the news because a diamond she once owned, the spectacular and mysterious Pink Diamond, also known as the Grande Condé is the object of an exhibition at the Condé Museum in the Chateau of Chantilly, its historical home. A diamond that was stolen in 1926 and later found a few weeks later…in an apple. https://chateaudechantilly.fr/en/evenement/exhibition-pink-diamond-chantilly/
