Paris, France — A lotus pond in myriad moments, a summer solstice, engaging and colorful paintings from two leading Chinese contemporary artists emerge in an exhibition entitled Hearts without Borders being held at the Maison de l’Europe (the House of Europe) from November 18th through November 28th. Some 40 works in diverse mediums ranging from oil painting to inks by Xu Li and Qi Haifeng offer a journey that transcends geographic, cultural and spiritual boundaries. While the works of Xu Li are an invitation to meditation, Qi Haifeng offers a glimpse into a colorful dream-filled world. The exhibition marks the first time the two artists have been exhibited side by side in Europe. «Throughout our spiritual journey, the public can perceive the fusion of two artistic expressions, but also feel a universal emotion that transcends cultures, religions and time. Mountains and rivers are boundaries, but the heart does not have any, art is silent but it soothes the soul,» the two artists said in a joint statement.

The Maison de l’Europe was founded in 1956 in Paris where it fosters inter-cultural and artistic exchanges. The institution regularly organizes exhibitions, conferences and international encounters in partnership with France’s Ministry of Culture, the European Commission and various European Institutions. The exhibition received the support of the European-Sino Association for International Commercial and Cultural Exchanges (whose French acronym is AECECCI) which works to encourage cultural, educational and economic exchanges between China, France and Europe.
