Paris, France — Chandeliers, gilding, marbled columns, ornate clocks and period furniture greeted the visitor to one of the great events on the international art market calendar. It all opened up with two museum quality exhibition spaces, something we’ve become accustomed to from the Galerie Léage and the Galerie Steinitz, two pillars of the Parisian antique scene. It was once upon a time the Biennale des Antiquaires, the mythical fair created in 1956 under the guidance of André Malraux. Today it has metamorphosed into FAB Paris a fusion of The Biennale and Fine Arts Paris which is now held annually instead of biannually. And will once again be called Fine Arts Paris in 2026 to reflect the various mediums represented in its elegant aisles.

And it’s back in its traditional house for the second year running, the newly-renovated Grand Palais, the splendid glass-roofed domed palace with its exuberant exhibition spaces. The great art fair with rows upon rows of Old Masters, the Modern and the Contemporary, antiques and antiquities, the Primitive Arts, books and manuscripts and glorious decor. Over the course of five days from September 20th until September 24th the event welcomed over 28,000 visitors and the preview was a flurry of both private and institutional buying. Over 100 galleries from around the world came together to celebrate in one of the leading international events devoted to the arts from Antiquity to the present.

“With this new edition at the Grand Palais, we have established FAB Paris in the international art market calendar, in order to showcase the excellence and cultural vitality of Paris, ” commented Louis de Bayser, president of FAB Paris. ©Trish Valicenti for The Gourmet Gazette. Next year’s FAB is slated to take place in the Grand Palais as well from September 19th until September 23rd, 2026. https://fabparis.com/en/
