Cocktails, Anyone? Campari Cocktails

Paris, France —It’s a posh corner of Italy that is unfolding in the French capital this summer. Last June 9th Campari adorned the 5-star Hôtel Collectionneur with its Campari Patio — Il Patio — a greenery-filled and elegant place to be for an aperitif Italian-style. That means a deliciously refreshing Campari Spritz or other Campari-oriented cocktails (including our favorite the Negroni) surrounded by a host of hors-oeuvres including delicate prosciutto, an unctuous burrata or olive-oil laden marinated vegetables. The patio is straight out of a cortile Milanese. Refinement is the order of the day reflecting the art de vivre of the cocktail hour in Milan, an institution that was further embellished when Davide Campari opened up his legendary Camparino in Galleria in 1915 located in the heart of the Galleria Vittorio Emanuele II, turning the aperitivo into an institution. Camparino in Galleria in Milan is still going strong 110 years later, overlooking both the Galleria Vittorio Emanuele II and the Piazza Duomo. Il Patio Campari is running all summer long at the Hôtel Collectionneur winding up on September 30th. Special to The Gourmet Gazette.
