Moulin Rouge: The Sails Are Back and Awaiting the Olympic Torch

Paris, France —After suddenly and mysteriously losing its wings last April 25th, the celebrated windmill of the Moulin Rouge is back in shape. The wings or sails had fallen off overnight for reasons not yet known. The new steel and aluminum blades were installed last July 5th and were accompanied by, what else, a French Cancan performed by some 20 dancers of the celebrated cabaret. But if you missed that free show on the Place Blanche just in front of the cabaret, no need to fret. Another Cancan will be performed by the dancers to accompany the Olympic torch on its run through the French capital — which is hosting the Olympic and Paralympic Games — on July 15th. The performers will emerge from the cabaret at 9:23 am and perform and then at 9:28 am will surround the torch as it is passed from one torch bearer to another. Special to The Gourmet Gazette
