Paris, France —It is a Parisian phenomenon, myriad neighborhoods that harbor unique art galleries. One of these is found in the 8th arrondissement in and around the elegant rue du Faubourg-Saint-Honoré. Tucked away on the rue de Penthièvre, the Galerie Guillaume is celebrating its 20th anniversary this year. Founded in 2003 by Guillaume Sébastien, the anniversary exhibition, curated by Alain Tapié, the honorary head curator of the museums of France, brings together a group show of colorful, eclectic works by six artists. Entitled Decoro, the show is a festival of shapes and colors with the works blending into their very own spaces, a concept dear to Leonardo da Vinci in which the works fit into their surroundings.

Decoro is a colorful, uplifting show balancing beautifully between decor and decorum. Christian Bonnefoi, Philippe Borderieux, Emma Daoud, Jérémie Lenoir, Najia Mehadji and Jean-François Rauzier have all been invited to exhibit their works for the anniversary show. These works are constructed in a host of mediums, digital works are juxtaposed with traditional acrylics and pastels on paper or oils on canvas. But here all of the works are unique and beautiful to look at. There is a soft pink photograph of Salt Lake by Jérémie Lenoir and the fantastical libraries created by Jean-François Rauzier which appear to be complex paintings but are in fact dozens of digital photographs brought together into a complex colorful collage which tells its very own story. The show is on until May 27th but others will follow throughout this year of celebration. ©Trish Valicenti for The Gourmet Gazette. Galerie Guillaume 32 Rue de Penthièvre, 75008 Paris.
