Paris, France — She is one of the great French actresses and one of the most elegant as well. Catherine Deneuve is putting some of her personal and extensive collection of accessories up for auction at the French auction house of Artcurial. And the cause is a noble and elegant one as well. She is donating all of the proceeds to the French charity Restos du Coeur, which distributes food and hot meals to the needy. Restos du Coeur literally means Restaurants from the Heart.

The actress, who was one of fashion designer Yves Saint Laurent’s muses, is donating some 125 pairs of shoes from leading luxury houses for the auction, many of which graced red carpet events and front rows of the myriad fashion shows she has attended over the years. The sale is taking place exclusively on-line and is being held from September 7th through September 14th by Artcurial. Estimates range between 30 and 150 euros for a selection of shoes and boots that includes pairs signed Louboutin, Yves Saint-Laurent, Louis Vuitton, Balenciaga, Prada and Roger Vivier. Satin, patent leather, suede, high heels, low heels, colors ranging from black to fuchsia, the selection is endless.

The sale will wind up with a Jil Sander holdall in black leather, and to throw into the holdall there is an Yves Saint-Laurent coin purse and a Roger Vivier cigarette case all once carried by the great actress. The Restos du Coeur were created by the French comedian and actor Coluche in 1985 and during its first winter of activity the charity distributed 8.5 million meals and over 136 million between 2019 and 2020.
