Looking for an end of the year gift that is unique? A high jewelry timepiece like no other has just strutted into town. The Marvelous Peacock has joined Harry Winston’s Marvelous Creations Collection, a magical world of the fantastic, the luxurious, the elegant. The Marvelous Peacock is a three-in-one high jewelry timepiece combining a functional handheld fan, a secret watch hidden by the plumage of a peacock, and a base to mount it as a table clock. It also fittingly embodies the design of Art Deco which is celebrating its 100th anniversary this year. It is a streamlined object featuring black and white marquetry. The Marvelous Peacock is a folding fan composed of 12 carved feathers. The feather sticks are hand- decorated with mother-of-pearl and onyx marquetry and scintillate with over 20 carats of precious stones. Given the weight of the gemstones and inlays, the underlying structure is crafted in lightweight titanium. The perfectly overlapping feathers are pierced to create a geometric pattern and held together by a black elastic ribbon threaded through the apertures and secured by a pivoting screw. The fan glides open with ease, and each feather stays perfectly positioned and taut. Applying very small calibrated slivers of mother-of-pearl, by hand, to the pierced feather sticks is a task of utmost precision and talent. Using 2,351 inlays of alternating mother-of-pearl marquetry and glossy black onyx highlighted with brilliant-cut diamonds, the design ascends vertically to reach the magnificent five carat pear-shaped blue sapphire crowning the summit. 

With its sophisticated black and white color palette and abstract motifs, the Marvelous Peacock pays tribute to an important chapter in the Harry Winston saga. When Mr. Winston founded his namesake company in 1932, the Art Deco movement was in full swing. With its majestic architecture, bright lights, and jazzy metropolitan tempo, New York City was the epicenter of the Art Deco movement in America. This new addition Harry Winston’s Marvellous Creations Collection features a three-dimensional peacock at the base of the fan, crafted in gold and covered entirely with diamonds. 

When the fan is opened, the peacock’s hypnotic mother-of-pearl train unfurls. By gently swiveling the peacock’s wing to the left, the diamond-set dial of the diminutive secret watch is revealed. When the fan is not in use, it can be placed inside the custom-made stand to become a miniature table clock. Crafted in titanium, the stand features black-and-white geometric structures inlaid with alternating mother-of-pearl and onyx to support the fan’s extremities.
