Paris, France — It is discreetly tucked into a corner of the Louvre Palace in the center of Paris looking out to the Seine and the Tuileries Gardens. This is one of the most prestigious schools in the world devoted to art history, archaeology, epigraphy, anthropology and museology. Jacqueline Bouvier Kennedy studied there as did the Franco-American artist Arman and Laurence des Cars, the current and first woman director of the Louvre Museum. « There » is the Ecole du Louvre which has been the educational institution that has taught and trained leading museum curators and people involved in the art world since 1882. Some 1,800 students a year study there and enjoy a unique learning environment: the Louvre itself housing one of the world’s largest and finest collections of art in the world from all periods, lands, civilizations and mediums. It is a higher education establishment of the French Ministry of Culture offering three degree courses and preparatory classes for the competitive examinations to become a heritage curator or a heritage restorer. And all courses are available for continuing education and some art history courses are available to auditors.

The school is currently concerned about the precarious living conditions for students, particularly in Paris where the cost of living is among the highest in the world, and has launched its very first campaign on the platform ulule to receive contributions to its endowment fund. « Because the living conditions for our students need to be restored, » explains the school. The on-line campaign on the platform is on until June 6th. Meanwhile the tax-deductible donations can always be made directly to the school. https://www.ecoledulouvre.fr/en
