Paris, France — The 33rd Salon du Dessin, the annual and very international Drawing Art Show in Paris, drew to a resounding and record-breaking close last March 31st in the beautifully-appointed Palais Brongniart. The show brought together more than 15,000 visitors and some 500 museum curators from, among others, the Metropolitan Museum of Art of New York, the Getty Museum of Los Angeles and the Art Institute of Chicago, who were on hand to purchase art for their collections. The show featured some 40 galleries from France and beyond, including participants from Switzerland, Spain, Belgium, the United Kingdom and New York and special exhibitions. The event offers a rare opportunity to see museum quality drawings ranging from the Old Masters to the Moderns as drawings, because of their fragility, are rarely exhibited. The Daniel & Florence Contemporary Art Foundation exhibited the nominees for the Contemporary Drawing Prize which it awards during the show. The award has been a highlight of the art calendar since its inception in 2006. This year’s winner was the Irish artist Alice Maher.

« The 2025 Drawing Show has been a great success. Not only was the number of institutions present superior to those in the preceding years, but they were above all very active in their purchases, which bolstered collectors in their desire to acquire, » commented Louis de Bayser, the president of the Drawing Show.

The 34th Salon du Dessin is slated to take place from March 25th until March 30th 2026. Meanwhile head to https://www.salondudessin.com/en/home/ for more drawing news and views.
