There is the iridescent moonlit bee pendant of gold with its diamonds, rubies and soothing moonstone. And straight out of the lily pond comes a group of leaping 14k gold frogs. Flying right in is a gilded cricket adorned with diamonds, emeralds and a black star sapphire eye, aptly named the Celestial Serenade Pin. The designer jewelry brand Vivienne Charles launched part of its first collection entitled Birds, Bees, and Things from the Sea Collection, an array of sculptural handcrafted jewels in precious and noble materials celebrating nature last March 24th, just in time to ring in spring.

“I wanted to create a collection that feels like a jeweled manifestation of nature’s whispers—each piece a memory of something ephemeral yet eternal. These designs are meant to capture the enchantment of the natural world in wearable form,” explains Elisa Gilbert, designer and founder of Vivienne Charles.

Nestled in a Balinese tea house atelier in Tuxedo Park, New York, Vivienne Charles was founded by designer Elisa Gilbert, whose lineage spans four generations of craftsmen — watchmakers, metal smiths, and sculptors. Working at her father’s jeweler’s bench, Elisa transforms raw metal into sculptural fine jewelry. Select pieces from this first collection will be showcased at An Ode to Spring: Celebrating Nature’s Renewal, a mixed-media exhibition at Lapin Contemporary Gallery, April 12th through June 15th, 2025, at 60 Roberts Drive, Studio 308, North Adams, MA, in the historic Norad Mill. ©Trish Valicenti for The Gourmet Gazette
