Paris, France —It is a unique Parisian landmark. He is a Hollywood star imbued with musical and artistic talents. So when the great curiosity cabinet and scientific institution of Deyrolle collaborates with Johnny Depp, an astounding, resounding message for the conservation of nature emerges. Johnny Depp is a regular visitor to the internationally renowned Parisian curiosity cabinet. The house edited educational plates from the 19th century until the middle of the 20th century that were commissioned by the French government to instruct students in the natural sciences. Today the nature lover can find just about anything from the natural world at Deyrolle: minerals, insects and naturalized animals, art works and books on the natural world, for Deyrolle throughout its 200-year-old existence has been devoted to Nature, Art and Education. Depp and Deyrolle are celebrating this triptych through an artistic collaboration revolving around one of nature’s most emblematic species and an incarnation of biodiversity: the elephant.

Johnny Depp, whose art works have been the object of several exhibitions in London and New York — including the current New York show, A Bunch of Stuff — has created a limited edition drawing for Deyrolle of an elephant with a rather sensitive and sociable appearance. Entitled Paciderm, it has been brought out in a limited edition of 250 numbered and signed editions. The touching work will be available at the house of Deyrolle in the heart of Paris and on http://www.deyrolle.com from March 27th, 2025.

The elephant is both a powerful icon of nature as well as a call to action to protect the planet. Deyrolle is a unique institution and clearly worth a visit in and of itself to discover the world of nature, its representations in art and educational tools to learn more about it. The Maison Deyrolle was founded by Jean-Baptiste Deyrolle in 1831 and is currently owned by Louis Albert de Broglie, who has a long standing commitment to conservation, ecology and biodiversity and who notably created and owns an internationally renowned tomato conservatory in the Loire Valley.
