Paris, France — It is all about a game of light and reflection. And shiny luminous pearls of gold, pearls of diamonds and rubies and emeralds and and sapphires. The latest creations from Van Cleef & Arpels aptly named Perlée collection include rings and bracelets and shiny diamond earrings. The gold pearls studded into the jewellery have literally been pearled — given a pearl— shape to offer mutiple rounded sides to catch the light. Gold, pink and white gold are juxtaposed with diamonds while diamonds and red rubies are framed in a gentle pink gold and sapphires and emeralds shine bright with light-filled yellow gold.

A key piece is the diamond Perlée bracelet with its five strands of pearled gold and diamonds. The gold and precious gemstones are formed into their light gathering pearl shape using the technique known as nid d’abeille meaning a bee hive. No less than 50 gemstones are gathered together into the five-strand bracelet reflecting the legendary expertise of the house of Van Cleef & Arpels in the selection, cutting and setting of gemstones.

Van Cleef & Arpels was founded on the Place Vendôme in 1906, the house is known for its ground-breaking jewellery techniques, like the mysterious setting which seamlessly outfit the jewel with a mosaic-like look or the mirror polish finish perfected by the house in the 1920s which imbues the creations with an exceptional sparkle.
