Paris, France — A feast for the eyes in design is being played out at the Centre Culturel Irlandais – the Irish Cultural Center in Paris. The works of two of Ireland’s talented designers are being showcased and juxtaposed in the center’s bright exhibition space as glazed ceramic vessels meet up with intricate wood furnishings. Entitled Context and Collaboration, the show features the latest and detailed works from Joseph Walsh and the glossy containers from the ceramic artist Sara Flynn. The show is timed to coincide with Art Basel Paris and Design/Miami Paris both kicking off in Paris this week.

The worlds of wood and ceramics come together with a highlight being the 12 sculptured Enignum Wall Brackets crafted by Joseph Walsh adorned with 12 porcelain vessels by Sara Flynn. Also of note are the myriad vessels in ceramic that are spread out across the Burr Ash surface of an Enignum Dining Table. Walsh’s unique elm bench is another noteworthy part of the show underscoring how detail and craftsmanship are the hallmarks of his work. For Sara Flynn glazing is a key element of her artistry. She works with natural pigments to outfit each piece with its special color. She is presenting new works here which have been created specifically for the event.

These unique works from both artists demonstrate a keen use of materials, expressive form and high craftsmanship. This collaborative journey between Walsh and Flynn began with their first group exhibition, Realisations, in 2008, and their works are also featured in the collection of art and objects at Chatsworth House, UK. Both artists hail from County Cork in Ireland. A program of talks, events and film projections are all on the agenda.
