It is a dazzling bejewelled rendition of Piaget’s Polo Date timepiece that has been brought out to mark the 150th anniversary of the Swiss house of fine watches and jewellery. The Polo Date High Jewellery in rose gold scintillates like a rainbow on your wrist. This limited edition watch is outfitted with a 36mm mother-of-peal dial engraved with Piaget’s iconic Decor Palace technique and a bezel set with precious stones in even more colours than the rainbow. It marks the first time the house has used this engraving technique on a material other than the traditional gold.

The other signature feature is the bezel displaying a subtle color scale in rainbow hues, made up of 17 sapphires, 5 rubies, 6 citrines, 6 tsavorite garnets and 6 spessartite garnets. The bezel is therefore set with almost 3 carats of trapeze-cut precious stones, painstakingly selected by a gemmologist and assembled by the Maison’s gem- setters in a process lasting seven hours, resulting in the highest level of visual harmony in the bezel and the indexes. The crown is also adorned with a special sparkling stone. This sophisticated watch also highlights horological technique, featuring a sapphire crystal on the case back that reveals the beating heart of the self-winding movement 500P1, along with an oscillating weight bearing the Maison’s crest.

The house of Piaget was founded in 1874 in La Côte-aux-Fées by George-Edouard Piaget who devoted himself to crafting high-precision movements and today Piaget remains a pioneer in the manufacture of movements unveiling ultra-thin movements that would become later on the House’s trademark and the cornerstone of its Altiplano collection. Today master artisans continue the work using their rare skills to create the high jewellery and fine watches in Piaget’s Ateliers de l’Extraordinaire (meaning extraordinary workshops). ©Trish Valicenti for The Gourmet Gazette. https://www.piaget.com/us-en
