It’s been raining now for several weeks in France and the rain continues to fall during the French Open and rain during the French Open is almost as classic as the classic tournament itself. So umbrellas are ubiquitous in and around Paris and subsequently the time is right to introduce our readers at The Gourmet Gazette to the great, iconic French umbrella manufacture that is the Parapluie de Cherbourg founded over 30 years ago in the heart of the port city of Cherbourg, made famous in the film Les Parapluies de Cherbourg by Jacques Demy with Catherine Deneuve and which won the top prize at the Cannes Film Festival in 1964. And an umbrella shop plays a central role in the movie whose catchy music was by Michel Legrand. Parapluie is French for umbrella and these umbrellas are hand-made in brilliant colours almost bright enough to blow a storm away. Highly resistant for those gusts of wind and elegant, they are a great companion to have with you in France and all over the world. Founded by Jean-Pierre Yvon in 1986 his son Charles has been at the helm of the family-owned house since 2020. Special to The Gourmet Gazette, https://parapluiedecherbourg.com/en/
