Geneva, Switzerland — The 2023-2024 Anywhere Only Watch auction was held in Geneva last May 10th and the independent Swiss house of Krayon made its mark with an outstanding watch that generated US$ 484,264 for the charity auction. The high watchmaking piece presented a master of decoration on its hand painted dial which re-interpreted the form and movement of a serene and eye-catching painting, Coastal Scene, by the Belgian painter Théo van Rysselberghe.

The technique used is astounding: each color is deposited by hand in tiny cells hollowed out of the metal. The color blue dominates and the very intricate and precise artistic technique of pointillism comes into play. The timepiece, called Art as an Ode to Nature, beguiles with its amazing complication: the indication of sunrises and sunsets, at the precise location chosen by the wearer, anywhere in the world. The watch was born with the vision of watch designer Rémi Maillat, founder of Krayon, which keeps alive time-honoured Swiss traditions, while delighting connoisseurs and lovers of the refinements that have become so rare.

The timepiece indicates the hours and minutes by means of two hands placed at the centre of a dial that float in the middle of the watch. It is surrounded by an annular display upon which circulates, in perpetual motion, a small sun that indicates the time over 24 hours. The ring-shaped zone consists of two sectors: a day sector (azure blue) and a night sector (dark blue), whose respective arc lengths indicate the sunrise and sunset times which can be read on the réhaut or flange. It is outfitted with a nice light titanium case. ©Trish Valicenti for The Gourmet Gazette. https://www.krayon.ch/index.php?lang=en
