A great way to ring in spring is with Vulcain’s 1970s retro chronograph in an alluring shade of green. It is a rather captivating green, deep and bright all at once. The 38mm stainless steel case holds within a manual SW510 M BH movement outfitted with an impressive 63-hour power reserve. The timepiece also enjoys a chronograph in addition to its hours and minutes hands. Water resistant to 50 meters it comes with a choice of straps, leather or crocodile patterned. It has been brought out in a very limited edition— read collector’s item here — of 200 pieces.

Vulcain was founded in 1858 by the Ditisheim brothers, two talented watch makers who named their brand after the Roman god Vulcan, the deity of fire and forge. Nestled in the Neuchâtel mountains, the cradle of Swiss precision watchmaking, the Manufacture quickly carved its niche by producing minute repeaters, grande and petite sonneries, and perpetual calendars. The house introduced the first alarm wristwatch which awakened its wearer with the chirp of a cricket. The Vulcan Cricket was worn, famously by Truman, Eisenhower, Nixon, and Johnson, earning it the nickname “The Presidents’ Watch.” Trish Valicenti for The Gourmet Gazette. https://vulcain.ch/
