Paris, France — Sparkling silver has made its way to the arcades and gardens of the National Domaine of Palais-Royal in Paris. It is one of the city’s most elegant spots and it has just been made more elegant with the house of Avgvst of Berlin, a high end jewelry maker, and Crosby Studios, the design house of the talented interior designer and architect Harry Nuriev, opening up an immersive pop-up jewelry boutique called “The Fountain” where visitors can shop the brand’s core and bestselling silver and gold demi-fine pieces.

The project’s narrative flows around the concept of a fountain as a repository of memories where they are conserved and brought back to life. The fountain in the center of the silvery cave-like space is a nod to the French tapestry, “Woman Bathing Surrounded by Attendants”, created circa 1500 by an anonymous master. The fountain serves as a display for the silver pieces from the latest collection by Avgvst jewelry x Crosby Studios, a study of coins and furniture of the past. For a closer glance at the jewelry, visitors are invited to dip their hands in the fountain’s waters, kept pristine by an attendant who constantly surveys it. Harry Nuriev and Avgvst present a reflection on classicism, which they describe as the longing for the perfect order in the ever-changing reality. Echo, a new collection by Avgvst is also on display. The silver and gold pieces, inspired by archive objects, are echoes of the past.

Avgvst Berlin was founded in 2019 by Natalia Bryantseva as an independent company. In 2023, the brand opened a flagship store in Berlin (Mitte) designed in collaboration with Crosby Studios, which features a jewelry store, tattoo studio and a secret garden. The silver and gold jewelry pieces are meant to be gender fluid. The brand employs fine jewelry craftsmanship techniques, hand-cutting gemstones, and meticulous metal polishing in the production process. Onyx, lapis lazuli and malachite offer a stunning complement to the house’s harmonious silver settings.

Meanwhile Harry Nuriev lives between New York and Paris. Artist, architect, furniture designer, he founded Crosby Studios in 2014. It’s called an architecture studio, but his creative practice isn’t limited by any specific space: he designs objects, immersive environments, public spaces, and virtual installations. He recently wowed the Parisian art scene with a superb gazebo installation at Les Gobelins, home to France’s National and Royal Furniture Collections. Trish Valicenti special to The Gourmet Gazette.
