New York, New York – A sparkling, eclectic and joyful world is unfolding at Christie’s New York which is presenting an exhibition of Elton John’s iconic collections of photographs, furnishings, stage costumes, watches and more emanating from the rock legend’s former Atlanta home in a series of landmark sales at Christie’s Rockefeller Center. Over the years Elton John assembled a distinctive collection of works of art, objects and memorabilia, many of which were crafted especially for his home on Peachtree Road, a condominium on Park Place, in Atlanta, Georgia. The auction, comprised of eight sales in total, both live and online is slated to begin with an evening sale on February 21st.

The auctions of this extraordinary collection offer collectors a rare opportunity to own a piece of its rich history, explained Christie’s in a release. The show entitled The Collection of Sir Elton John: Goodbye Peachtree Road, a take on one of his great hits and albums, Goodbye Yellowbrick Road, brings together a fabulous collection of watches, many of them custom-made, pieces from Elton John’s dazzling stage costumes, exquisite upholhostered chairs and tableware by Gianni Versace and a grand piano, a Bentley and a pinball machine, custom-made for the Pinball Wizard, a nod to Elton John’s role in the movie version of the Who’s rock opera Tommy and signed by Elton John. All in all a very man cave collection. The true surprise here is Elton John’s extensive collection of exceptional photographs by some of the best known and greatest of all photographers including Andy Warhol, Helmut Newton, Robert Mapplethorpe, Peter Beard, Herb Ritts, Richard Avedon and Irving Penn.

“It is a distinct privilege for Christie’s to partner with Sir Elton John and his husband David Furnish in curating the forthcoming auction: ‘The Collection of Sir Elton John: Goodbye Peachtree Road.’ This extraordinary collection not only showcases a diverse array of remarkable objects that encapsulate Elton’s unique life, work, and art but also provides our clients with a glimpse into the profound impact that the city of Atlanta had on him. In the two weeks leading up to the sales, Christie’s Rockefeller Center Galleries will transform into a series of specially designed immersive spaces, offering a dynamic view into the world of Elton John. We take immense pride in presenting this multi-category sale, featuring a refined assortment of photographs, artworks, fashion, and costumes — a testament to a man’s eclectic vision, artistry, and impeccable taste,” said Tash Perrin, Deputy Chairman of Christie’s Americas.
