Dampierre-en-Yvelines — The castle and gardens of the Domaine de Dampierre-en-Yvelines, the Domain of the Dukes of Chevreuse, welcomed the kings and queens of France into its celebrated iconic walls for fabulous fetes and sumptuous sojourns. Today the castle, which is just an hour’s drive from Paris, is undergoing a major renovation, one of the largest in a privately owned historic monument, all the while remaining open to the public. And while it has welcomed kings and queens in the past, it is currently welcoming  Halloween in formal French, yet fun style. The ambiance is clearly haunting and harvest-like with 1,000 pumpkins, 500 chrysanthemums and the darkly beautiful castle seemingly dancing in the moonlight. Visitors can enjoy a journey down the pumpkin path, on a pony, as well for children. Flashlights are handed out for a nocturnal promenade and Baroque music and dance shows are on the evening agenda. Special to The Gourmet Gazette. Halloween and Harvest celebrations until November 5th. https://www.domaine-dampierre.com/preparer-ma-visite/tarifs-de-visite/
