Paris, France — It is one of the lush, nature-filled places in Paris, the Luxembourg Garden home to the French Senate, an orchid collection, a fruit orchard and honey-producing bee hives. It also houses a picturesque Orangery or Orangerie in French, conservatories or green houses to protect orange and other fruit trees in the winter. The Senate’s Orangerie dates from 1839 and houses some 180 plants. But it is as well a fine exhibition space and starting on August 24th it will be showcasing the works of the Artist’s Association of the 6th arrondissement (Le 6ème, Ateliers d’Artistes ) which is celebrating its 30th anniversary this year and like the Luxembourg Garden is located in the 6th arrondissement or district of Paris.

Entitled Le Goût de la Nature (A Taste of Nature) the show brings together 21 professional artists of the association working in myriad mediums including sculpture and painting. The exhibition also features works of member artists who are no longer with us. There is an intriguing and colorful work by Albert DuPont entitled Landscape of Being, Hommage to Monet, Marie Gueydon de Dives is presenting a sculpture of earthenware jars made with clay collected from just outside her studio and there is an uplifting drawing in blue and green depicting oak leaves by Véronique de Guitarre.

These are just some of the glimpses of nature that can be admired in the Orangerie, offering a natural world within a natural world. The exhibition which is being held from August 24th until September 4th is free of charge. Exhibition hours 11am until 8pm and until 7:30pm starting on September 1st. Orangerie du Sénat, 19 bis rue de Vaugirard, 75006 Paris. Entrance: Porte Férou. There will be a vegetal performance on August 27th in the afternoon.
