Paris, France —There is Martin Margiela’s fur wig dubbed Bless, haute couture from the 10th anniversary of the house of Christian Lacroix, a golden-horned goddess by Alexander McQueen for the house of Givenchy and Bono on tour wearing a Walter Van Beirendonck t-shirt. These are just a few of the examples of the fashions of 1997 on show at the Palais Galliera, the fashion museum of the City of Paris. The exhibition focuses on the year 1997 which is regarded as a watershed year in the history of contemporary fashion. Concept stores, like Colette emerged on the shopping scene while legendary French houses were taken over by a new generation of British designers with Alexander McQueen at Givenchy and John Galliano at Christian Dior.
